We have been standardizing our business processes across our terminal network, modernizing our application landscape, invested heavily in a data management program and data infrastructure foundation as well as speeding up the utilization of data to improve our customer service, make our operations more efficient, reduce our energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions and share our data with partners in the logical supply chain.

What will you do as an OperationResearch Engineer?

For this journey we are seeking an exceptional Operations Research Developer capable of combining software development & analytical skills, curiosity, critical thinking, sensitivity and entrepreneurship to facilitate the business in defining and realizing decision support systems.

You maintain close relationships with data scientists, data analysts, data engineers from the Data & Analytics team as well as with product managers and business subject matter experts. If this is you, then we'll be happy to meet you!

What are the responsibilities?

• Design and implement Operations Research algorithms to improve decision support systems.

• Develop mathematical models for operational and tactical decision-making processes.

• Analyze large datasets to extract meaningful insights and trends.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and translate them into actionable solutions.

• Optimize (tank) planning and scheduling capabilities

• Deploy solutions in production via our CI/CD pipeline

What do we expect from you as an Operation Research Engineer?

The ideal candidate enjoys discovering and solving business problems. He or she has a strong results driven personality with a high level of enthusiasm, energy and confidence and always being a critical thinker. Ability to communicate complex findings and ideas in plain language. Ability to change direction quickly, proactively seeking clarification of requirements and directions and take responsibility when needed. The role involves ongoing contact with a wide range of colleagues from different departments in a decentralized and international environment. This requires excellent influencing and communication skills, including a high level of written and spoken English.

• Academic degree in e.g. econometrics, mathematics, IT or another data & analytics discipline.

• 3 to 5 years of relevant work experience

• Excellent communication skills to convey complex concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders

• Proficient in implementing Operations Research algorithms

• Previous experience in developing decision support systems

• Demonstrated strong teamwork skills

• Demonstrated strong analytical and problem solving skill

• Experience with agile scrum way of working

• Experience with using SQL

• Experience with Cloud data platform, data catalog tooling & data visualization tooling

• Experience with data science platform tooling, and object-oriented/object function scripting languages like Python

• Experience with AWS, Snowflake and Gitlab is a plus

• Experience with software development is a plus
